Day 193: Doubleheader Outdoor Cinema Series, Puyallup, WA

We have a doubleheader weekend for the Outdoor Cinema Series! Both movies will be playing at Bradley Lake Park and will begin at dusk.

Bring your blanket, chairs and get set to have some great outdoor fun!

Also, concessions will be sold.

Movie #1 – Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp (Tonight 7/29)

  • Movie Details: 19-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.

Movie #2 – Legends of the Guardian – The Owls of Ga’Hoole (Tomorrow 7/30)

Movie Details: When a young owl is abducted by an evil Owl army, he must escape with newfound friends to seek out the legendary Guardians to stop the menace.

Day 192: Pierce County’s `Minute to Win It` Games, Tacoma, WA

Participate in Pierce County’s version of the popular television game show ‘Minute to Win It’ this Friday (07/29) from 6:00p – 8:00p at Sprinker Recreation Center.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation will have it’s own spin on your favorite games.

For all ages
Fee:

  • $7/person
  • $25/family of 4

For those who have not seen the show, each game lasts 1 minute. Games include puzzles, buildings, and silly challenges.

The event is for children and families of all abilities. Come ready to play in comfortable clothes to test your skills against other kids and families!

Day 191: Concerts In The Park, Puyallup, WA

The third “Concert In The Park” series of the Summer is taking place this Thursday, July 28th at Puyallup Pioneer Park from 6:30p – 8:30p.

Day 190: Exploring Your World: Geocaching for Teens, Puyallup, WA

What is Geocaching: GEOCACHING is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online.

The Washington State Geocaching Association will be teaching teens about goeocaching this Wednesday (7/27) from 3:00p – 5:00p at the Puyallup Public Library. Learn what you need to geocache and then explore Pioneer Park with friends to find hidden caches!

The library will have a limited supply of GPS units, but feel free to bring your own if you have one. Also, this is a FREE event!

Day 189: Goodguys 24th Pacific NW Nationals, Puyallup, WA

The Northwest’s favorite summer rod & custom event, the Goodguys Pacific Northwest Nationals is coming to the Puyallup Fair & Expo Center this weekend July 22, 23 & 24.

The event features over 2,500 1972 & earlier rods, customs & classics, vendor exhibits, indoor car show, Builder’s Choice awards by Art & Craig Morrison, a giant pin stripers brush bash, a swap meet & cars for sale corral, Friday Night Drags at Pacific Raceways, nightly stage shows and parties, cruising – you name it it’s happening at the 24th Pacific Northwest Nationals!

The action gets started Thursday as the Kingsmen will host the annual Poker Run Thursday July 21st. The Poker Run leaves registration (at the fairgrounds) at 11am sharp and will visit hot rod shops and other points of interest around the area. Following the Poker Run, the traditional barbecue kickoff party will take place at the Fairgrounds!

Friday through Sunday the action heats up at the Fairgrounds as the event will be in full swing! If you’re looking for some Friday Night excitement check out the nitro-fueled Friday Night Nostalgia Drags at nearby Pacific Raceways in Kent! Headlining the evening’s program is a special Nitro Funny Car match race between Bucky Austin and Mark Sanders! The vintage front-engine dragsters of the Northwest Top Eliminator Association will also be part of the evening as well as five eliminator classes! Day 187: Run, Jump, Climb! Parkour @ the Library, Puyallup, WA

Come down to the Puyallup Public Library Wednesday (7/20) from 3:00p – 5:00p and learn a new way to stay in shape!

The usual jogging and sit-ups can get boring. It’s time to discover a new way to stay healthy and see the world around you!

Parkour is the art of moving through your environment as swiftly and efficiently as possible, using only your body.

Parkour Visions (www.parkourvisions.org) will teach you the basics of parkour at this FREE workshop, including running, jumping, climbing, and using the environment around you.

Day 184: 2011 Gross Out Olympics, Graham, WA

The 2011 Gross Out Olympics is an event all kids can participate in! The 1st edition of the Gross Out Olympics will be taking place July 14 (Register by July 12) from 5:30p – 7:30p at Frontier park in Graham (if you can’t make this event, there will be 2 more happening this Summer that I will announce).

Get ready for extreme Gross Out challenges – Bologna Toss, Human Cheese Puff, Lemon Slurp, and many more disgusting events. Every Olympian earns a gold medal in these games!

Wear bathing suits or clothes that can get dirty. There will be a sprinkler on hand for the Olympians to run through and clean off between events.
