Day 157: Valentine’s Day Ideas, Puyallup, WA

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, February 14th…but what things can you do in Puyallup for this special event.

Here’s a list of ideas (in no specific order…and definitely not ALL the things you can do…just some of them).

1) Dinner – pick your favorite local restaurant in Puyallup for that special someone. Whether it’s Italian, American, Chinese, Vietnamese, and BBQ…Puyallup has you covered. My favorite places: Olive Garden (Italian), Red Robin (American), Wok & Teriyaki House (Chinese), Pho Tai (Vietnamese), Famous Daves (BBQ).

2) Movie – This one’s obvious…you can’t have dinner without the movie. Go to Longston Place Theater and pick the favorite movie. Guys…be careful on this one, pick a movie she would like :).

3) Get some Ice Cream – After the movie stop by Cold Stone Creamery to get some ice cream.

3) River Walk – If the weather cooperates with us…this is a great place to go and see the scenery. This will be a beautiful walk and the perfect setting for Valentine’s Day.

4) Go to the Park – there are many parks to choose from in Puyallup. I would say the best pick for Valentine’s Day would be De Coursey Park. You can walk the trails around the lake.

5) Daffodil Bowl – check my post this last week about the Valentine’s Day special that they are having. What a fun event.

6) Visit Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery – Good way to score some points. Everyone gets flowers right, well, do one better and take your special someone to the flower shop to pick out something special.

7) Go Shopping – Oh, man…go to the South Hill Mall to have a shopping evening. For my wife, this would be HUGE.

8 ) Get some Coffee in front of the fireplace – Pick your favorite coffee barista and sip your favorite drink. My favorite is Forza in downtown Puyallup. Ask them to turn on the fireplace and enjoy!

9) Golfing – If that special person in your life is into golfing, this is a great place to hang out for a date. Check out Lipoma Firs Golf Course.

10) Your Choice – I have probably missed something…so let me know what other places are good for Valentine’s Day. Give me your ideas (but keep it CLEAN!).

Day 156: Daffodil Bowl, Puyallup, WA

Daffodil Bowl is a great place to bring the family or join your friends for a game of bowling!

Growing up in Puyallup I have a lot of great memories of Daffodil Bowl. Whether you like bowling or not, or maybe your just not that good (like me) you always seem to have a great time!

Daffodil Bowl has leagues for youth, men, women, seniors and even mixed leagues. It’s also a great place to celebrate Birthdays, Anniversary or a “Just Because Celebration”.

Day 155: Saturday Films: The Cheap Detective (PG), Puyallup, WA

Another classic parody movie this Saturday, at 2:00 pm, in the South Meeting Room at the Puyallup Public Library.

Now Playing: The Cheap Detective (1978) – Rated PG

With the requisite abundance of plot twists and creepy characters, playwright Neil Simon skewers film noir in a parody that combines scenes from Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon. Lou Peckinpaugh, a private dick implicated in the murder of his partner, hunts down missing diamond eggs at the behest of Mrs. Montenegro.

Running time: 92 minutes
