Day 154: Northwest Sinfonietta Intermezzo: The Art and Soul of Mozart, Puyallup, WA

The Northwest Sinfonietta will be performing a Pre-Concert program at the Puyallup Public Library this Wednesday, February 2nd, at 1:00 pm, for this story behind the music of Mozart.

Over 20 years, the Northwest Sinfonietta has garnered a reputation as one of the region’s finest Mozart interpreters. Music Director Christophe Chagnard, a Mozart specialist, will shed light on one of the greatest musical geniuses the world has ever known.

All pre-concert programs are free to the public.

Day 153: Washington Sportsmen’s Show, Puyallup, WA

Western Washington’s Only Sportsmen’s Show

Washington’s biggest and brawniest sportsmen’s show, the Washington Sportsmen’s Show opens Wednesday, January 26th (TODAY) thru Sunday, January 30th, with a packed line-up of family-friendly attractions, new expert speakers and past crowd pleasers at the Puyallup Fair and Events Center.

Western Washington’s only sportsmen’s show spotlights the one-of-a-kind indoor “Steelhead River,” over 150 hours of free “how to” seminars, camp cooking demonstrations, the Kid’s Free Trout Pond, the “Head & Horns” competition and much more.

It’s the perfect time to begin planning outdoor adventures for the New Year (and decade!) with professional guides, outfitters and other resources to assist in making fishing, hunting and wildlife-watching trips a reality.

Day 152: Saturday Films: A Few Good Men (R), Puyallup, WA

Day 151: Friday Cinema: How to Train Your Dragon, Puyallup, WA

This Friday (1/21) at 7:00p will kick off the Friday Cinema series at the Memorial Community Center in downtown Puyallup.

Pack up the family and come down to the Memorial Center for a free Friday Night movie flick. Bring your chairs and blankets and join them in the gym at 7:00 pm to watch “How to Train Your Dragon” on their 32ft inflatable screen.

Concessions will also be available for purchase (popcorn, candy, drinks).

Day 150: Snowman Lunch, Puyallup, WA

This Saturday, January 15th from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Puyallup Activity Center (210 W. Pioneer) meet Frosty’s best friend, Sam the Snowman and join him for lunch!

Come see the Winter Wonderland where you can play winter games, enjoy a snow cone, create a winter craft and get your photo taken with Sam the Snowman. There will be lots of photo opportunities so bring your camera.

Pre-registration is required and tickets can be purchased at the Puyallup Recreation Center. Tickets are only $12.00 per person and will sell out quickly.

Day 149: Bird Training with Ashley’s Avian Antics, WA

This will be a very fun, family friendly event for the kids!

Fly into the Library for a fun and informative look at bird training basics. This Saturday, January 8th, the Puyallup Public Library welcomes Ashley’s Avian Antics for a science based show with real live birds.

Ashley will introduce the fundamentals of bird training. Be prepared for a laugh as the animals attempt to learn new behaviors in front of your eyes. Children and adults will learn about cause and effect, and maybe pick up a training tip for pets at home. The fun starts at 11 am in the library meeting room.

Ashley’s Avian Antics is run by Ashley Brockett, helping people of all ages connect with nature through the use of small birds that anyone can interact with. She always brings at least one bird that everyone can touch!

No registration required for this FREE library program. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Day 148: No Sun Fun Run, Puyallup, WA

Where: Saturday, January 22nd @ 10:00 AM – 5K & 1 Mile Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail

We live in Washington…we should be used to the rain by now, right? Well, the No Sun Fun Run is a rain or shine event just for us!

It doesn’t matter what the conditions will be, the ‘No Sun Fun Run’ will take place no matter what. The run is non-competitive and welcomes all ages and abilities.

Make sure to come dressed warm and bring your enthusiasm for one of the first 5K’s (and 1K’s) of the year. Remember, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes!

1 Mile Course:
New this year is the 1 mile course! Starting at Heritage Recreation Center, the course will run two times around the outside of the ball fields and will finish inside the sports complex between fields 1 and 4.

5K Course:
Beautifully forested 5K course on the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail are very flat and stroller friendly! Starting at Heritage Recreation Center, the course runs around the baseball fields then heads south and takes a large counter-clockwise loop around South Hill Park and forested wetlands. Then progresses back toward Heritage Recreation Center lower soccer fields, north along 94th Avenue, then west through the lower parking lot (next to Zeiger Elementary) and ends in between fields 2 and 3 inside the sports complex.

  • Registration Forms must be received by January 10 to be eligible for the $20.00 pre-registration fee. All pre-registered 5 K participants will receive a commemorative race day t-shirt (included in fee) and a goodie bag.
  • 1 Mile runners must pre-register by January 10.
  • All forms received after January 10 will not include a shirt.
  • T-shirts will be available to purchase day of event for $10 while supplies last.
