Day 63: Sparks Firehouse Deli, Puyallup, WA

The public is invited to Puyallup’s annual Memorial Day observance at 1 p.m., Monday, May 31 at the Pioneer Park Pavilion.

The event is sponsored by the Puyallup Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2224, American Legion Post 67 and the city of Puyallup.

The guest speaker will be Col. Lois Beard, U.S. Army Commander of the 593rd Sustainment Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The event will also include the Clan Gordon Pipe Band and the annual presentation of memorial wreaths by community members.

Day 62: Sparks Firehouse Deli, Puyallup, WA

A new local restaurant in our community, Sparks Firehouse Deli is located on 5th St SW (right across from Sparks Field).

The deli serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week with everything from Soups, Sandwiches, Wood Fired Pizzas, Salads…and more.

Come down and check them out, they have great outdoor seating and a beautiful setting when the weather is nice (although the wood fired oven is a nice touch when the weather is cold :)).

Day 61: Rainer Woods Park, Puyallup, WA

Another small park in our community, Rainer Woods Park on South Hill is small but has lots of charm (click picture below to see map).

Just off Shaw Road this nine-acre neighborhood park has a playground, picnic area, youth softball field, wooded area, and grassy open space.

This is a great place to relax and spend some time enjoying our local parks.

Day 60: Happy Teriyaki #11, Puyallup, WA

Happy Teriyaki #11 down on River Rd is one of my family’s favorite Teriyaki restaurants to eat at.

They have great teriyaki and we love getting the carry out and dining at home.

The restaurant is nicely decorated inside and they have good service too.

Plus, they have an indoor Koi pond which makes for a pretty cool setting.

Day 59: Wine Styles, Puyallup, WA

Sit back, Relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine at Wine Styles at 4009 S. Meridian (South Hill).

They have created an atmosphere of and “Old World Wine Cellar” when you walk through the doors.

Day 58: Family Day on the Puyallup River Walk Trail, Puyallup, WA

Family Day on the Puyallup River Walk Trail is taking place this Saturday May 22nd! For all those who want to attend this fun event you can meet at either the Goodwill Parking lot or Fred Meyer Parking lot (on River Rd. across from the car lots) at 9:00 am.

The event will include fun activities and adventures for children and families including hidden treasures along the trail, booths and exhibits promoting healthy habits, fun physical activity, nutrition, safety and more.

The event is sponsored by Healthy Communities of Pierce County in partnership with the City of Puyallup, Senator Jim Kastama, Friends of the Riverwalk, Puyallup YMCA, Foothills Rails to Trails Coalition, Puyallup Fred Meyer, Puyallup Goodwill, Puyallup-Sumner Chamber of Commerce.

Day 57: Famous Daves BBQ, Puyallup, WA

Ok, let me first start by saying that…yes, I know this is a chain restaurant…and yes, I know there are other BBQ places.

Keep in mind that just because this is the first BBQ place I have highlighted dose not mean its the best (but they are one of my favorites :)).

Ok, now that we have that done, Famous Daves is located on 3811 9th Street S (basically in the Mall parking lot).

Stop in, or grab your food to go! Either way you’ll enjoy a great BBQ meal with plenty of amazing sauces to choose from.

Famous Daves has been in business for over 25 years and features many recipeis with Dave’s award-winning Rich & Sassy sauce (my favorite).
