Day 129: Pumpkin Palooza, Puyallup, WA


Puyallup has tons to do this Saturday, October 30th for Halloween. Here is a list of things you and your family can be apart of.

Haunted Farmers’ Market
9:00-2:00pm — Pioneer Park Pavilion
The Market vendors will be dressed up in costume for the occasion!

Tunnel of Terror
The City of Puyallup Parks and Recs. department is hosting the “Tunnel of Terror” inside Pioneer Park.
Hours of operation will be 11:00am to 4:00pm. This activity is guaranteed to be really scary and is not recommended for kids under 7 years of age. $5 admission

Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Judging at Noon — Pioneer Park Pavilion
Bring your decorated pumpkin to the Farmers Market and enter to win a prize!
Two categories: Best Painted/Decorated and Best Hand-Carved.
Age Groups: 13+ / 7-12 / 6 and under

Glass Pumpkin Patch
9:00-4:00 pm — Pioneer Park
Once again the Tacoma Glass Blowing Studio will have their beautiful glass pumpkins available for purchase. Pumpkin prices are from $35 up depending on size.

“Thriller” dance
1:45pm — Rotary Stage – Pioneer Park
Elite Dance Studio will repeat their wonderful performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance. A great kick-off to our downtown events!

Knights of Veritas
3:30-4:30 — Puyallup Library
Non-profit group specializing in interactive educational demonstrations of medieval arms, armour, combat, knighthood and chivalry.

Trick or Treat Downtown
2:00-5:00 pm
Bring the kids downtown for a safe and secure trick-or-treating experience! Over 30 businesses will be handing out candies and treats for all the little ghosts and ghouls. Locator map will be available at various businesses or pick one up at the Puyallup Main Street Association office.

Window Decorating Contest
Downtown Businesses compete for a prize with the best decorated windows!

Halloween Carnival
2:00-5:00 pm — Main Street and Meridian
Hosted by Renovo Church, the carnival will feature games for the kids, treats, and live music by several local bands.

Kids’ Coloring Contest
Deadline to enter is Thursday, Oct. 28. Winners in 3 age categories will each receive a special prize. Entries will be displayed in the windows at the Main Street office, located at 107 N. Meridian.

Pet Costume Contest
4:00pm — Dog Daze
Dress your furry friends up and enter them in the Pet Costume Contest! Prizes will be awarded for best home-made costume and best store-bought one.
Three age groups (handlers, not pets!):
6 and under/ 7-12 / 13 +

Day 128: Knights of Veritas…and Bonus Event Below, Puyallup, WA

Join the Puyallup Public Library for this historic all-ages event! On Saturday, October 30th at the Puyallup Public Library from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm, the Knights of Veritas will be demonstrating medieval combat, knighthood and chivalry.

Learn about the Code of Chivalry at this free program and discover what’s fact or myth when it comes to weapons, armor, and combat. The Knights will present examples of historical weapons and armor and demonstrate combat techniques. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Puyallup Public Library.

BUT, before exploring the midevil times, come if you dare to the Tunnel of Terror located at Pioneer Park also on Saturday, October 30th from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. The cost is only $5.00 and is not recommended for children ages 7 and under.

Day 127: Fright Feast Halloween Dinner, Puyallup, WA

This Friday is the 2nd Annual Fright Feast! You’ll dine amongst your most feared characters of all time.

Making a special appearance will be “Frankenstein”, “Dracula”, “Freddy Krueger”, “Michael Myers” and many more haunted surprises will lurk in the dark, dreary, haunted room.

You’ll also have a chance to roam through our haunted halls of terror, if you dare to enter.

Enjoy the Haunting Menu featuring Intestines (Spaghetti), Witches Fingers (Bread Rolls), and a Vial of Blood to wash it all down (Berry Punch). In addition, there will be Fresh Ground Salad, make sure to check for worms, and to top it all off for a fun dessert, roam through our haunted “Make it Yourself Sundae Bar” with all sorts of Spiders, Bugs, Worms, etc. for your eating pleasure. (Catered by Mama Stortini’s Restaurant & Bar)

You must pre-register for this event.

Fee: $12.75/pp (13 years of age and older) or $10.00/Children (12 and under)

Day 126: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Puyallup, WA

Join the Library this Saturday, at 2:00 pm, in the South Meeting Room for the Saturday Film program. Experience action, adventure, family films, and more at your library!

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) – Rated PG

Butch and Sundance are the two leaders of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. Butch is all ideas, Sundance is all action and skill. When Butch and Sundance rob a train once too often, they must try and stay ahead of the law, fleeing to Bolivia.

Day 125: Youth Basketball Registration, Puyallup, WA

Basketball season is getting close!

Its time to register your son or daughter for the youth basketball program!

There is still time to register your child for the Puyallup Parks & Recreation’s youth basketball program.

Leagues are available for kindergarten through 12th grade and you can register at the Puyallup Recreation Center, 808 Valley Avenue NW, Puyallup.
