Day 211: Run/Walk in Puyallup, Pierce County, WA

Attention Runners/Walkers, there are 3 events coming up that you can join and be apart of! Check out all the details below for each event.

Monster Mash Dash – 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Come participate in the first annual Monster Mash Dash at Spanaway Park this Saturday (10/8) at 9:00 am.

This 5K and 1 mile fun run will wind you through the Spanaway Park’s forest and along Spanaway Lake in your favorite Halloween costume. Special prizes will be awarded for best costume.

The course is paved with mild slopes and flat areas to run.

The event is non-competitive and welcomes people of all ages and abilities.

No official time will be taken. A digital running clock will be available for runners as they cross the finish line for their own curiosity.

Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM: Participants will check-in or register at 8:00 a.m. at Spanaway Park.
  • 9:00 AM: The race begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.

1 Mile Fun Run/Walk:

Adults and children are encouraged to participate in the 1 mile fun run/walk. All participants need to pre-register prior to race time.

  • $5/person

The 1 mile run/walk course is completely paved is great for all types of runners, wheelchairs, and strollers.

Registration and Fee:

Day of Event

  • $20/person – 5K Run
  • $5/person – 1 Mile Run/Walk
  • $10 – T-shirts while supplies last. A limited amount of t-shirts will be for sale day of event.


8th Annual Haunted Hustle

This annual 5K & 10K race will begin and end at the Pioneer Park Pavilion this Sunday (10/9).

The 5K race is a flat course that is suitable for walkers, strollers, and wheelchairs. The 10K is more “frightening” with the hills and scary views of Woodbine Cemetery.

Both courses are on the road and all ages and abilities are invited to participate. Also, feel free to race in costume! Awards will be given to each age division.

Come Walk With Me 5K

Come Walk With Me 5K, in support of breast cancer health at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital is taking place this Saturday (10/8) at 8:00 am.

Event Location:
The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse in Sumner

Schedule:

  • Kids 50 yard Dash starts at 8:30am
  • 5K starts at 9am

Pre-registration ends 10/6/11

Fees:

  • $20 ages 13+ ($30 day of)
  • $10 youth 5-12 ($15 day of)
  • Free for children 4 and under

Day 210: The Puyallup Art and Wine Walk, Puyallup, WA

The Puyallup Art and Wine WalkThe Puyallup Art and Wine Walk

The Puyallup Art & Wine Walk is an annual event sponsored by the Puyallup Main Street Association. The Puyallup Art and Wine Walk will be taking place this Saturday, October 1 from 3:00-7:00 pm.

Throughout downtown Puyallup, participating downtown businesses will host wine tastings and exhibits of local artists. Don’t miss out on this premier event in downtown Puyallup. Wines from Washington with an emphasis on the Walla Walla region will be served at twenty-two wine host sites.

For the beer lover, The Station U-Brew is serving up The Conductor, a peach/rhubarb beer specially brewed for this event and Breakman Jack amber.

This favorite fall afternoon will include food tastes from area restaurants, an art scavenger hunt and the opportunity to stomp some grapes!

Day 209: Puyallup Fair – Day 3, Puyallup, WA

There are only 6 days left of the Puyallup Fair, have you gone yet?

The Puyallup Fair is a great place for families to come and have a great time but for the Kids…there’s a special place that they will really love!

Sillyville

In Sillyville you will find:

  • Vintage Train & Station – The C.P. Huntington Train travels on a 24-inch track gauge and is housed in a new 4,000 square foot station with an early 1900s feel. It reaches speeds of 12 mph with seven seats per car – two adults and one child per seat, or four children per seat.
  • Train Tunnel – a 120-foot mine shaft-themed tunnel, featuring an interior 3-D mural of friendly dinosaurs living in the Pacific Northwest
  • SillyVille Food Court – featuring kids value menu items

Day 207: Puyallup Fair – Day 1, Puyallup, WA

There are A LOT of things to do at the Puyallup Fair, but today I want to highlight the FREE things to do at the Fair.

My family’s been going to the fair since before I was born and most of the time we don’t spend a dime once were in the gates. Sure, of course I go on a ride or two, but for the most part everything we do during the day is FREE.

Day 170: Daffodil Parade 2011, Puyallup, WA

Don’t forget, tomorrow Saturday, April 9th 2011 is the 78th Annual Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Street Parade. The parade will be taking place throughout Downtown Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner and Orting! (see below for start times in your city)

This years parade will be hosted by Emerald Queen Hotel & Casinos.

Parade Start Times:

  • Tacoma – 10:15 am
  • Puyallup – 12:45 pm
  • Sumner – 2:30 pm
  • Orting – 5:00 pm

The Theme for the 2011 Parade is: “Spirit of Adventure”

The Daffodil Parade is one of the highlights every year in Puyallup and other surrounding cities. The parade travels through the four cities of Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner and Orting and consists of approximately 40 float entries and over 80 other entries, including bands, marching and mounted units. The floats are decorated with fresh-cut Daffodils, numbering in the thousands. The Daffodil Festival will be celebrating it’s 78th year during the 2011 festival season!

Day 169: Making Music, Puyallup, WA

Kids love music, right! In fact my 2 nephew’s both received musical instruments for the majority of their Christmas gifts this year…lots of noise this last Christmas ;).

At the Puyallup Public Library this Saturday (11:00a – 11:45a) you can enjoy a musical story time! During this story time the kids will get to make a musical instrument to take home…awesome!

This will be a whole lot of fun for everyone! Its a FREE event and No registration needed!

Day 168: Game Bag Rentals, Puyallup, WA

Are you as excited about the changing seasons that are fast approaching. Today especially we wake up to beautiful weather and get a glimpse of Spring / Summer! When the weather gets nice, its fun to go to the park and have a picnic with friends and family. But what are you going to do when you get there?

Pierce County Parks and Recreation has Game Bag Rentals available! Choose from 5 different game bag options:

  • Bag #1 PiffleBall – $15/day
    A fun twist on the game of whiffleball. Bag includes pickleball rackets, whiffleballs, bases and bag.
  • Bag #2 Volleyball – $15/day
    Bag includes portable volleyball standards, net, and two volleyballs.
  • Bag #3 Parachute – $15/day
    Bag includes a 24 foot parachute, 6 game balls, and activity guide.
  • Bag #4 Kickball – $15/day
    Bag includes bases, playground balls, rules and bag.
  • Bag #5 Old Fashioned Picnic Pack – $25/day
    Bag includes an old fashioned Picnic Pack which includes a 75 foot tug-o-war rope, potato sacks, flying disks, and cones.

A $50 damage deposit is required.
